About Jeremy

Jeremy Picknell

Jeremy is a novel and short story writer. His favourite genre is speculative or dramatic social satire, a sensibility he developed through writing and staging music theatre and cabaret acts.

Underneath thought-provoking themes is his fondness for our humanity, and his belief in the healing power of humour. Jeremy also writes at times in the Literary and Contemporary genres.

Jeremy’s Story So Far

Jeremy has a Bachelor Diploma of Education and Honours Degree in Music Composition. He spent many years creating and directing music ensembles, music theatre and cabaret acts, before finally arriving at fiction writing, which fitted in nicely with raising two children.

Jeremy has completed numerous writing courses, is an active member of multiple writing groups, and facilitated the Fernhill Writer’s Group for four years, before extensive travel through South and Central America.

His short story, Left Fork, was published in the 2023 Anthology of the Sydney Hammond Memorial Short Story Competition, and his story Bin Night, in the 2024 anthology.

Jeremy has also written educational materials, policy and other content for non-profit organisations in Melbourne and Brisbane.
